Buttons are strange things.

Here, buttons are fairly obvious as to their use. The top one opens the doors and the bottom one closes them. But I’ve never seen anyone use the Close button on my daily commute out of Central London.

Why put it there? Maybe if it’s windy and the door lingers open too long then someone nearby could close it.

The best thing about door buttons in London is the ones of some tube lines. They’ve been disabled and don’t actually do anything, but still visitors to the city insist on pressing them.

Maybe Borris left them there so visitors felt like they were actually in control of something.

At least it’s not red…
